"Land and sea quake"

Films: Dinocroc (2004)

Alias: None

Type: Man-Made

Location: Civilized Area/Lake/Forest

Height/Weight: That of a truck.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: After a long absence, Roger Corman is back at it again with his litany of low budget monster fests. But sadly, even he cannot resist the allure of cheap CGI chumps. At the very least, none of his monsters are ever boring.

History: Created in a lab with a twin, this chimera of crocodilian and saurian DNA killed its partner before managing to escape its confines and into a lake near a small town. Pretty soon, it's terrorizing the folks there, and action is taken to get rid of it. Easier said than done, though...

Notable Kills: The brutally fast decapitation of a 12-year old, as well as it managing to catch a person while she's waterskiing.

Final Fate: After they fail to gas it to death, the Dinocroc is finally brought down after getting hit by a train and stabbed in the eye. However, it is later shown that either the beast barely survived, or there's just another one...

Powers/Abilities: An extremely resiliant hide.

Weakness: Heavy artillery and the eyes.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-A powerful-looking and toothy design does not get along well with bad CGI. But on the plus side, its actions manage to speak for themselves. And by the way, there's more where that "saurian crocodile" came from in the coming years...

Trivia: -It is heavily implied through most info about this film that the North African dinosaur used to make Dinocroc is a Suchimimus, a spinosaurid that had a similar body structure, albeit with a very thin and long mouth more fit for just chowing down on fish. In fact, its name means "Crocodile Mimic" in Latin. Then again, spinosaurid dinosaurs are all explicitly related to crocs, so it could even be the Spinosaurus itself.

-In spite of universally negative reception, this film managed to win a Golden Galaxy Reward from the American Science Fiction Society.
